The 5 Best YouTube Channels To Learn Spanish

The best YouTube channels to learn Spanish, in my opinion, are numerous. There are a significant number of Spanish teachers who dedicate hours into creating great videos. It’s super useful for both the followers who learn Spanish with them, and for other Spanish teachers too.

In this article I am going to write about the best YouTube channels to learn Spanish that I myself use in my classes, and those that I recommend to my students since 2020 when I started teaching Spanish online.

YouTube is such a natural and integrated part of our lives that it would be strange to think of an Internet user who does not use YouTube at least three or four times a week.

Right now I am thinking of examples around me.

My dad, for instance, uses YouTube to look for information about fertilisers and herbicides for his garden. He is hooked on a channel by a guy whom, in his own words, “knows what he is doing.”

My sister doesn’t watch TV at all, she only watches YouTube. Specifically, she watches videos of sports analysts and experts. And more specifically, she watches YouTubers who are giving UEFA a hard time… (those of you who know about football, know what this is about 😉).

One of my nieces, who is eleven years old, watches some videos of some game, which I have tried to learn so I can play with her, but I don’t get it. It’s called “Minecraft”. It’s not that I particularly like that she spends so much time watching Minecraft videos on YouTube, but it turns out that the Minecraft guys have also written books, so I gave her one and now my niece also reads about Minecraft 😊.

And of course, the woman who is writing this article.

I use YouTube for many things since there are endless super useful tutorials to learn a multitude of aspects that I need for my business, but, as I’ve come to revealing my family’s hobbies, I have to confess that I have a weakness for baking and pastries videos, I love watching how they make cakes, pies, cookies… And then of course… I put it into practice!

I’m straying from the topic of this article, sorry 😁

Among the five best YouTube channels to learn Spanish that I have selected for this article, there are two where you can learn Spanish with teachers from Spain, there is one where Spanish is taught with an accent from Argentina and a fourth where Spanish from Mexico is taught. Finally, there is a fifth, which is a little bit different, and that makes it special.

Do you want to discover them?

Let’s get started!

Best YouTube channels to learn Spanish: The referents

I’m going to start this list of the best YouTube channels to learn Spanish with two referents from the ELE teaching sector for any Spanish teacher, both online and in person.

Elena Prieto is the content creator of this channel, a fantastic Spanish teacher, who was also one of the pioneers in online Spanish teaching and a reference for many of us.

The format of her videos is very dynamic, as she explains the content of the video at the same time as it is shown on the screen as animations.

On her channel you can find videos on vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, general Spanish culture and about the DELE B2 exam, a subject in which Elena is an expert.

Particularly popular are his videos about food, the regions of Spain, the differences between the verbs ser and estar, and the family in Spanish.

Personally, I love Profedeele’s materials. Two of the videos on this channel that I use the most in my classes are the video on countries, languages and nationalities and the video on how to say the time in Spanish.

Daniel Hernández and his team have done a great job, not only on this YouTube channel, but also on their website and at the events for teachers that they organise annually.

On the Profedeele YouTube channel you can find videos on vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation and culture for all levels.

While on the Tu Escuela de Español channel, the cultural part focuses on Spain, one aspect that I really like about the Profedeele channel is that you can find videos on traditions and culture from other Spanish-speaking countries such as Colombia, Mexico, Chile…Especially popular are their videos on greetings and farewells in Spanish, the Day of the Dead in Mexico and the use and conjugation of gustar (me gusta / me gustan).

Best YouTube channels to learn Spanish: Crossing the Atlantic from Spain

We continue this article about the best YouTube channels to learn Spanish with two excellent teachers, one Argentine and one Mexican.

The teacher and content creator behind the videos on this YouTube channel is called Brenda Romaniello. Personally, I think this girl is incredibly talented. Not only does she explain grammar in a structured way, with logic that makes sense and with examples that make the student understand this grammar, but she also makes super entertaining videos, with topics and celebrities that are trendy. With this, Brenda achieves two things. The first is that you learn Spanish and the second is that you have fun.

Brenda’s explanations are in Spanish and English, she uses both languages.

On the Hola Spanish YouTube channel you can find videos on vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, conversation, culture… But Brenda’s personal style of creating content means that her videos, apart from being educational, also have an important motivational component and she, apart from being a great Spanish teacher, also plays the role of a coach.

Particularly popular are his videos on Spanish from Argentina vs. Spain vs. Guatemala vs. Mexico, Basic Spanish Conversations for Beginners, and Era vs. fue, estaba vs. estaba.

This channel is a classic among classics. If Ana Guardia, the content creator of this channel, started her YouTube channel in 2012 and continues to grow in number of videos and number of subscribers, it is because the quality of her content is excellent.

Ana’s dynamic personality, along with her smile, makes you immediately connect with this Spanish teacher who teaches Mexican Spanish.

On her channel, you can find videos for all levels, but I think that English-speaking beginners are her target audience.

Ana teaches Spanish in her videos with a whiteboard, writing by hand, and I love that, because as my students know, although I use online documents and materials in our classes, I also really like the traditional whiteboard, where I can write and you can take notes by hand 😉.

Ana’s explanations are in Spanish and English, she uses both languages. Particularly popular are her videos on how to pronounce letters and sounds in Spanish, learn 100 Spanish phrases in 30 minutes, and learn all the basics in Spanish at level A1.

To finish my list of the best YouTube channels to learn Spanish, I’m going to tell you about César Rodríguez’s channel, a channel that I definitely have to start using in my classes.

Why?

Because César, on his Spanish Language Coach channel, has done something that is very difficult for Spanish teachers who create content: he has created videos on current and trendy topics or topics that he is personally interested in BUT with Spanish adapted to level B (intermediate level).

I myself, who tried to do this with my blog articles back in 2020, when I started writing, know how difficult it is.

It is so difficult that I preferred to write articles in English and Spanish, rather than writing Spanish texts adapted to level B.

So, this is the value of César’s channel.

Also, as his name suggests, Spanish Language Coach, César doesn’t focus on teaching vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation… What he does is give you advice to motivate you in your language learning and talk about general topics with a Spanish adapted to level B.

When talking about general topics, his style and analysis may not fit yours, but I assure you that the Spanish that he uses is level B. Particularly popular are his videos about life in a Spanish neighbourhood, analysing the Spanish of Anya Taylor-Joy | The Queen’s Gambit, and The price of happiness, is it possible to live well in Spain?

Immerse yourself in Spanish by watching videos and… more

I have seen YouTube channels for learning Spanish that are completely in English. Don’t get me wrong, these teachers and content creators do a great job and put in many hours into creating their videos, but I personally would not recommend my students watch a video that is 100% in English if they want to learn Spanish.

One of the most effective (and most uncomfortable too) methodologies for learning Spanish is total immersion in the language.

If you watch one of the videos I have recommended in this list of the best YouTube channels to learn Spanish, at first, depending on your level of Spanish, you will not understand almost anything. And also, you will feel relatively uncomfortable. But it does not matter, wait, endure, be patient. You will see how, little by little, your listening begins to get used to the voice and pronunciation of the teacher, his or her accent, his or her speed of speech… You may have to watch the same video several times, but that is something that is part of learning a new language, repetition and consolidation.

And if, in addition to watching YouTube videos, you want to learn Spanish online with an accredited, native and experienced teacher, I invite you to book a trial class with us.

At Your Spanish Hub, we don’t have a YouTube channel.

It’s something I considered at the beginning when I started my business… but, as my Scottish students would say, “it’s not my cup of tea” 😂.

What we do have is a fantastic Membership Programme, where, in addition to watching a video lesson (like those on YouTube channels), you can then practice what you’ve learned in the video with various self-checking activities.

I hope these suggestions help you in your Spanish learning. Find the YouTube teacher you like the most and… Hit play!
